The EP takes a change in pace with "Consuming Fire", the second song we wrote back in '09. This acoustic-driven song features a crawling lead guitar line in the background. It was written while wrestling with my own personal demons, realizing its true that when you live for the material things you want in the world, you'll lose your soul.
lyrics
I didn’t do the math and I took the easy path
The road-not-taken’s gone, and now I feel the wrath
Materials will claim my results won’t end the same
I can trade a hole in the root of my soul for temporary fame
But all the things I desire, I never seem to acquire
When I shift my head to what’s higher
You’re all I really require
Consuming fire, come in this place
The need is dire for Your embrace
Your face relays the case; I need Your grace
I’m in this state again; between rebirthing and the sin
A valley full of valleys, where I’m sure that I’ll fall in
Oh, if only I could change and put the target back in range
A lost heart’s my bleeding part that stains my skin, a type of mange
A brand new birth, an absent leave
A turning point, a New Year’s Eve
You brought about a planted seed
You’re life, You’re love, my only need
